Must-See YouTube Video #11

In 2010, Antoine Dodson became a legend after this news report went live. His sister, Kelly was asleep in her apartment in the Lincoln Park housing projects of Huntsville, Alabama when she awoke to find an intruder climbing into her bed. Antoine sent the attempted rapist a warning on live TV in this viral video called Antoine Dodson News Blooper. While this was an unfortunate and horrific experience for the Dodson family, today they are doing very well after capitalizing on this video with a line of T-shirts and other merchandise! They no longer reside in the projects.

Trendy: Tile

Tile is being referred to as "the world's largest lost and found," and that pretty much sums it up. Coming in the winter of 2013/2014, this small device helps find items that can be easily lost -- or even stolen.

Just attach a Tile to items like your keys or stick one in your wallet or hide it in your car. Then, use your phone to track down your items using WiFi.

Instead of turning your house upside down when looking for your keys, Tile can sound off an alert so you can find them. You can see the last place you put things, and if your item is stolen, other Tile users unknowingly help the company track the item when it comes into close proximity with them. The more users, the better this concept works! Learn more and preorder your Tile now for just $18.95: http://www.thetileapp.com/

Your Guide to Social Media: Twitter

Twitter.com was created in 2006 as a way to deliver short messages to those interested in receiving them. Twitter visitors are able to view users' short messages called tweets, and those who sign up for their own Twitter handle (username) are able to post their own short messages. How short? Twitter messages can not be longer than 140 characters. That includes links to websites, photos and videos - which can often be long. Being forced to limit your message makes tweets more challenging to write, but ultimately they are concise and easy to read!

Define: #FF

#FF stands for Follow Friday. Fridays have been designated by Twitter users as the day to introduce their followers to interesting new voices. A typical #FF Twitter post on a Friday would look like this:

These guys are hilarious! @Name1 @Name2 @Name3 #FF

If you like the suggestions, you can follow them! Hence, #FF!

Learn more about hashtags here. Be sure to check out the Twitter Guide!

Must-See YouTube Video #10

David After Dentist was uploaded to YouTube in 2009 and has over 120 million views. At the age of seven, David was on some medication after having a tooth removed at the dentist's office. David's dad filmed the procedure as well as the car ride home for David's mom who could not attend the appointment.

The video was pretty funny and David's dad uploaded it to YouTube to share with some relatives. He didn't realize making the video public would bring more than 3 million views to the video within a week. Of course, David's difficulty staying lucid does makes for some big laughs - all in good fun of course. If you ever hear the phrase, "Is this real life?" you'll know exactly where it originated:

David's dad keeps a blog with current news and photos of David and his brother, William.

Trendy: Dialect Survey Maps

Internet users recently got a kick out of a North Carolina State University study on dialects. Joshua Katz of the department of statistics created an amazing set of maps to depict how words are said differently across the United States. For example, look how different parts of the country say the word "route." (click the map to enlarge)

Check out Katz' amazing series of maps here.

Visit JCrew.com to find the perfect chambray that fits your needs. Just don't go overboard, this isn't the '90s.

Gone are the days we can pick up the phone and ask an airline customer service representative to book a flight for us.

Well, you can, but did you know most airlines are tacking on a fee for your call? It's another attempt to make more money and detering you from calling helps eliminate the need for so many customer service representatives. Take a look to see if your airline is charging a fee for this service and remember, booking online is easy!

Know Your Acronyms: TIA

TIA: Thanks In Advance OR This Is Awkward

Written in text and not spoken verbally, TIA is usually seen in forums or in emails after a person asks for a favor that won't put the other person out too much.

Trendy: MUSTACHES

This mustache fad has been sticking around for a couple of years. Oh, not on the face! On pillows and t-shirts, mugs and stickers. A sticker with a mustache can be worn on your finger and when you place your finger to your upper lip, it looks like you have a mustache! Get in on the trend for just six bucks with Fingerstache - Mustache Temporary Tattoos from Amazon.com.

Hipsters often don actual mustaches, which may be the reason mustaches have taken off. The things hipsters are doing these days often go mainstream.

Each November, many men grow mustaches of all lengths for thirty days during "Movember." This is to bring awareness to men's health and help raise funds for the fights against prostate and testicular cancers.  Both men and women can register at http://us.movember.com/. Registration begins later this month.

Tip: WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING???

Today a friend mentioned that her mom is constantly sending messages in all caps (capital letters):

"hI SWEETIE, HOW IS EVERYTHING GOING TODAY?"

My response? WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING???

When we type messages, utilizing capital letters is the equivalent to shouting. And shouting isn't very nice. Be sure to stay away from writing in all caps unless completely necessary. Special occasions are worth shouting about. For example, it is okay to write "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" Don't abuse the exclamation marks though. There's really never a reason to use more than three.

Did you notice the letter "h" is lowercase above? A lot of times when you accidentally hit the "caps lock" key on your keyboard, you don't even notice that you are now automatically typing in all capital letters. It is on the very left of your keyboard, above shift. It's pretty easy to accidentally hit the caps lock key and activate the feature. Don't worry, just hit it once more and YOU WON'T BE SHOUTING ANY LONGER!

Search Bar vs. Address Bar

My mom couldn't find my blog. I called her this morning and told her to check it out. Just go to www.getwithithere.com. She did, but it wasn't coming up. How could it not come up?

She was typing the address into the Google search bar instead of the address bar. "Is there a difference?" Definitely.

When using the Google search bar, you are asking Google to find results based on what you're searching for. If you're not searching at all, if you know exactly where you're heading, type it into the address bar and you'll be taken there directly.
