French macarons have exploded onto the scene and are being sold world-wide. Lightweight, fewer calories than most desserts and in a variety of delicious flavors, it's no wonder these guys are becoming so popular! Macarons are small sandwiches, the outside is made of flour, sugar, powdered sugar, almond powder, food coloring and eggs. The inside is a ganache, jam or buttercream mixed with a flavor.

If the trend hasn't hit your city and you can't find macarons locally, you can make your own at home with Martha Stewart's recipe!
